Building Science Open Houses
In addition to participating in the International Passive House Open House Days during construction, R-951 has hosted several building science open houses, attended by over 500 professionals, decision-makers and interested community members. These events have been cosponsored by organizations including New York Passive House, Green Home NYC, Solar One, NYSERDA's Low Rise New Construction Program, Sallan Foundation, and Green Map System.
When this building became the first in New York City to achieve both Passive House Institute and NYSERDA Net Zero energy capable certifications, we invited the Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and City Councilmember Stephen Levin, a co-sponsor of the Passive House Intro (Local Law 86), to join us. Beautiful Citations were presented by Deputy Diana Reyna recognizing R-951, its designers, developers and solar installers as part of the celebration.

Because the discussion was focused on applying energy efficiency to both existing and new buildings, we made this handout.
